A renowned journalist Udaya Bhanu launches a news channel called NNC with the aim of delivering nothing but the truth to the public. Driven by social responsibility rather than monetary gain, she appoints the honest journalist Chetan (Nara Rohit) as the company’s CEO. Chetan begins exposing corrupt political figures, leading to the assassination of CM Prajapathi (Sachin Khedekar). The film delves into the investigation behind the assassination, unraveling the motives of the assailant and Chetan’s quest for truth.
Telugu funda Positives:
The first half follows a familiar plotline where the hero exposes corrupt leaders. Despite its predictability, certain segments are executed well. The protagonist confronts corrupt politicians on live shows, revealing their true nature. Additionally, the film endeavors to educate the public on the importance of voting, conveying a positive message. While not groundbreaking, these scenes contribute to a passable first half.
Sharp dialogues and brisk narration divert attention from the familiar narrative. The comedy track featuring Sapthagiri, sequences surrounding the by-poll, and a serviceable interval twist maintain engagement. Nara Rohit delivers a commendable performance, returning to the screen as a sincere reporter committed to exposing injustice. His dialogue delivery remains consistent, supported by decent performances from Sachin Khedekar, Dinesh Teja, Udaya Bhanu, and Sapthagiri.
Telugu funda Negatives :
The second half disappoints, deviating significantly from the promising setup of the first half. While the initial focus is on exposing political corruption, the latter part shifts towards the CBI investigation into the CM’s assassination. However, the portrayal of the investigation process appears ludicrous, marked by caricatured depictions of high-profile leaders and officials that detract from the film’s sincerity.
The director sacrifices logic for commercial appeal, resulting in several scenes that lack coherence and go overboard with superficial elements. A more realistic approach could have strengthened the film’s impact.
Telugu funda Aspects:
Mahati Swara Sagar’s music and Nani Chamidisetty’s cinematography receive mixed reviews, while the editing maintains a fast pace. However, the VFX work falls short, particularly evident in scenes featuring large crowds and the climactic airport sequence.
Director Murthy Devagupthapu’s effort is sincere, but the film suffers from shallow writing and the inclusion of commercial elements that dilute its intended message.
Telugu funda Verdict:
“Prathinidhi 2” boasts a promising premise but falters due to superficial writing and inconsistent execution. Nara Rohit shines as a dedicated journalist, and the first half offers engaging moments. However, the film’s descent into poorly written scenes in the second half undermines its potential as a thought-provoking political drama.
