After delivering Bheeshma in 2020, Venky pitched a story to Chiranjeevi, who instantly liked the concept. However, after months of effort, Venky felt disappointed with the final version. He believed it failed to meet the high standards he had envisioned.
Although Chiranjeevi suggested improving the script further, Venky decided to step away. He felt that if he ever directed Chiranjeevi, he had to deliver nothing short of perfection. In a recent interview during the promotions of his film Robinhood, Venky clarified that Chiranjeevi played no part in the project’s cancellation. He took full responsibility, admitting that he chose to scrap the film due to his own dissatisfaction with the script.

For now, Venky has shifted his focus to Robinhood, his third directorial venture starring Nithiin and Sreeleela. The film, scheduled for release on March 28, 2025, carries high stakes for Venky as he aims for a hat-trick of hits. With strong pre-release buzz and aggressive promotions, he hopes for a successful run.
Will Venky Get a Second Chance with Chiru?
Industry insiders believe that if Robinhood becomes a blockbuster, Venky might once again receive a call from Mega Compound. Chiranjeevi, known for supporting young directors, could offer him another chance. Meanwhile, Chiranjeevi continues filming Vishwambhara and has lined up projects with Anil Ravipudi and Srikanth Odela.
