Director Buchi Babu Sana praises Ram Charan for his intense dedication in their upcoming film Peddi. The moment the camera starts rolling, Charan transforms entirely. “He becomes a completely different person. He never settles. He always demands one more take,” says Buchi Babu.
The director highlights Charan’s passion and hunger as rare qualities in today’s stars. He says Peddi goes beyond sports, it dives deep into emotion and reflects the raw spirit of North Andhra’s culture. Charan’s role is earthy and grounded, much like his real-life persona.
Peddi Delivers More Than Just Cricket
Set in Vizianagaram, Peddi weaves sports drama with emotional storytelling. Buchi Babu makes it clear, cricket is only the setting. Emotion drives the narrative. He carried this story in his heart for years and chose the right time to bring it to life.
When he narrated it to Charan two years ago, the actor agreed instantly. Charan committed fully and underwent a massive physical transformation for the role. He took part in multiple look tests and stayed deeply involved from the start.
Buchi Babu Fought Odds to Become a National Award-Winning Director
Buchi Babu’s journey began with resistance from his family. They didn’t support his dream of making films. To satisfy them, he joined an MBA course in Hyderabad. But after class, he rushed to work at Sukumar’s office. There, he learned the craft while assisting on films like Arya 2, 100% Love, and Rangasthalam.
Sukumar, his former math lecturer from Kakinada, guided him. “He told me that cinema already lived inside me,” says Buchi Babu.
Uppena Sparked His Success, Peddi Aims Even Higher
Uppena, his debut film, featured newcomers and became a blockbuster. It even earned a National Award. Long before filming began, he believed in its success. “I said it would make Rs 100 crores and win awards, even when no one else believed me,” he recalls.
That same belief now drives Peddi.
AR Rahman Brings His Musical Brilliance to Peddi
Peddi also marks AR Rahman’s much-awaited return to Telugu cinema. Buchi Babu calls the collaboration a dream. Rahman didn’t hold back, he offered 20 to 30 options for each song. His background score, Buchi says, lifts the film to another level. Rahman told him he felt connected to his stories because of their deep emotion.
With an emotionally rich story, an inspired team, and a powerhouse performer like Ram Charan, Peddi promises to deliver a cinematic experience that’s raw, real, and unforgettable.
