Perni Nani, speaking to Jaffar in a detailed interview, took stock of the humiliating defeat of the YSRCP in the recent Assembly elections. He said that Jagan Mohan Reddy ran the Chief Minister’s Office in such a way that its functioning wasn’t aligned with the interests of the MLAs.
“We have to point out the mistakes with frankness,” Nani said, adding that no leader must repose complete faith in officials.
Perni Nani’s words ring true. Soon after the election result on June 4th, a defeated YSRCP MLA openly spoke of how an officer trusted by Jagan ill-treated even ruling party MLAs by making them wait outside his office for hours on end.
Perni Nani defended Kodali Nani’s intemperate language against Chandrababu Naidu and others from 2019 to 2024. “His style has always been like that. He used to abuse Congress leaders in the same way when he was in the TDP. People are okay with it,” Perni Nani said.
