Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan convened a video conference with senior officials from the Panchayat Raj, Rural Development, and Rural Water Supply departments to review post-cyclone relief operations across Andhra Pradesh.
Speaking from the Mangalagiri camp office, Pawan commended the effective handling of Cyclone Montha, but cautioned that the coming days are critical for ensuring sanitation, clean drinking water, and restoration of damaged infrastructure in affected regions.
He instructed officials to immediately implement “Super Chlorination” and “Super Sanitation” drives in all cyclone-hit villages and deploy mobile sanitation teams to curb potential health risks. All 21,000 sanitation workers are to be fully mobilized to prevent the outbreak of mosquito-borne and water-related diseases.
Officials reported that 1,583 villages suffered severe damage, with 38 roads completely and 125 partially affected. The Deputy CM directed departments to prioritize road repairs and ensure uninterrupted drinking water supply by arranging alternative sources where necessary.
Pawan also stressed close coordination between health and rural teams to prevent disease spread and restore normalcy at the earliest. He underscored the need for accountability and swift interdepartmental communication to ensure efficient execution of relief efforts.
The meeting was attended by senior officials, including Special Chief Secretary (Panchayat Raj) Shashi Bhushan Kumar and Commissioner Krishna Teja, who presented detailed updates on damage assessment and ongoing recovery operations.
