Panic Among Vehicle Drivers in Hyderabad Over Petrol Shortage

By TeluguFunda / March 25, 2026

Hyderabad, March 25, 2026 Chaos erupted at fuel stations across Hyderabad today as vehicle drivers scrambled for petrol amid reports of acute shortages. Long queues snaked around pumps in areas like Secunderabad, Banjara Hills, and Uppal, with many motorists waiting for hours only to be turned away empty handed.

The panic stems from supply disruptions at local depots, reportedly due to logistical issues with oil tankers amid ongoing nationwide fuel distribution challenges. “I’ve been here since 6 AM, and they’ve run out twice already,” fumed auto-rickshaw driver Raju from Kukatpally. Similar scenes played out citywide, with traffic snarls worsening as frustrated drivers blocked roads.

City traffic police deployed additional personnel to manage crowds and prevent skirmishes, while the Telangana Petroleum Dealers Association urged calm, promising normalcy by evening. Officials from Indian Oil Corporation attributed the glitch to a temporary pipeline maintenance delay from last week, affecting stocks in the Telugu states.

This comes at a tense time for Hyderabad’s commuters, already grappling with rising fuel prices hovering at ₹110 per liter. Social media buzzed with videos of altercations at pumps, hashtagged Hyderabad Petrol Crisis, drawing parallels to shortages during past monsoons.

Residents are advised to limit non-essential travel and check station apps for availability. The state government has assured swift intervention, with emergency supplies en route from neighboring depots.
