‘OG’ Faces Slowdown After ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ Takes Over the Box Office

Pawan Kalyan’s much-awaited action drama OG hit theatres on September 25, and upon release, it dominated the box office. Other films like Little Hearts, Mirai, Kishkindhapuri, and Beauty were sidelined as audiences rushed to watch OG. The film opened to blockbuster talk and strong collections in its first week.

However, the scenario changed with the arrival of Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: Chapter 1, which is currently ruling the box office nationwide. Following its release, OG experienced a noticeable slowdown. While the movie held strong during the festive week, family audiences have now shifted their preference toward Kantara, especially since OG carries an A certificate restricting its reach to a broader audience segment.

Despite the dip, trade analysts believe OG still has a chance to recover some momentum as the holiday season continues. The upcoming Saturday and Sunday will be crucial in determining the film’s final box-office fate.

Kantara: Chapter 1 benefited from a wide release and strong festive timing, which significantly boosted its collections. Meanwhile, OG has already ensured decent profits for the producer, but the film still needs additional earnings to bring the distributors into the safe zone.

With two more days left before the festive season wraps up, all eyes are on OG to see whether it can regain its pace and finish on a stronger note.
