No Telugu Remake for Drishyam 3: Malayalam Version to Release as Dubbed Film

By TeluguFunda / May 12, 2026

The much-loved Drishyam franchise is back in the spotlight with updates on its third installment, but the latest development has left many Telugu fans disappointed. Reports indicate that there will be no Telugu remake of Drishyam 3, which stars Mohanlal in the lead role. Instead, the original Malayalam version is expected to be released in Telugu as a dubbed film.

Industry sources suggest that the primary reason behind this decision is the busy schedule of actor Venkatesh Daggubati, who portrayed the Telugu version of the character in the earlier films. He is currently occupied with several high-profile projects, making it difficult for him to commit time to a remake of the third installment.

Trade analysts also feel that further delaying the Telugu version could diminish the suspense and impact, especially since the Malayalam original is reportedly gearing up for release on May 21. Releasing it directly in dubbed format is seen as a more practical choice under the circumstances.

The first two Telugu adaptations, Drushyam and Drushyam 2, were widely appreciated and received strong audience response, with Venkatesh’s portrayal of Rambabu earning significant praise. Fans had been eagerly waiting for his return in the final chapter, and social media is now filled with mixed reactions expressing disappointment over the decision.

Despite the setback, anticipation for Drishyam 3 remains high. Audiences are still keen to see the conclusion of Georgekutty’s gripping story unfold on the big screen.
