Actor Nara Rohit, who has been actively promoting his upcoming film Bhairavam, made a surprising revelation during a recent interview. He shared that director Sukumar and producer Ravi Shankar had approached him first for the powerful role of Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat in Pushpa: The Rise.
“Sukumar initially approached me for the role, but later they chose Fahadh. I’m not sure I could’ve done it like him, but he delivered a terrific performance,” Rohit stated honestly.
Rohit confirmed for the first time that he had been in talks for one of Tollywood’s most iconic roles in recent years. His statement sparked fresh curiosity, especially now that Pushpa 2: The Rule has taken over the global box office, earning over Rs 1800 crore.
How Nara Rohit Missed a Career-Changing Role
In 2020, when the pandemic disrupted the film industry, Rohit stepped away from acting for a while. Around the same time, Mythri Movie Makers began casting for Pushpa. Rohit revealed that the team had seriously considered him for the villain role opposite Allu Arjun and even held discussions with him. However, for unknown reasons, the opportunity didn’t move forward.
Eventually, the makers chose Fahadh Faasil, whose intense performance earned massive praise and cemented his position in Telugu cinema. Many believe that if Rohit had taken up the role, his career might have taken a different and possibly stronger direction. Although films like Solo and Prathinidhi earned him recognition, Rohit has struggled in recent years to recreate that success.
Bhairavam Marks Rohit’s Confident Comeback
With Bhairavam set to release on May 30, 2025, Rohit looks to turn the tide. The film, directed by Vijay Kanakamedala, features Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas and Manchu Manoj alongside him. Rohit plays a significant role and continues to appear across media platforms to promote the film.
In interviews, he explained how the team made key script changes, emphasized his belief in the film, and said that the depth of his character mattered more than screen time. Rohit also spoke candidly about his personal challenges over the last year, losing his father and getting engaged, calling it a year of mixed emotions.
With Bhairavam, Rohit aims to reconnect with audiences and rebuild his place in Tollywood. Fans are hoping this film will mark the comeback he’s been working hard to achieve.
