Actor Manchu Manoj was briefly taken to Bakaraopet Police Station in Tirupati on Monday night between 11 PM and 1 AM. However, the exact reason for his detention remains unclear. Several reports suggest different reasons, ranging from a routine police inquiry to his ongoing family dispute.
Manchu Manoj at Jallikattu Event
Earlier that day, Manoj attended a Jallikattu event in the Chandragiri constituency along with his wife, Bhuma Mounika. He was welcomed warmly by TDP and Janasena supporters, and celebrations included fireworks and grand processions near the Gangamma Temple. During the event, he hinted at his political aspirations, stating that no one can predict the future in politics.
Before this event, Manoj also met Andhra Pradesh Minister Nara Lokesh at Renigunta Airport. Reports suggest he might have sought help regarding his ongoing family dispute involving his father, Mohan Babu, and brother, Manchu Vishnu.
Why Did Tirupati Police Detain Manchu Manoj?
Reports suggest that Manoj was staying at Lake View Resorts near Tirupati. Around 11 PM, police conducted routine patrolling near Ghat Road and private resorts. They noticed private bouncers in the area and asked for their details. The bouncers informed Manoj, who then went to the police station himself.
At the station, Manoj reportedly told the police, “I know who sent you to arrest me. Arrest me!” However, the police denied detaining him, stating they were only verifying details due to security concerns. He then sat on the steps outside the police station, questioning why they were inquiring about him.
Another report suggests that the police advised Manoj to leave the resort, stating that a celebrity like him should not stay near a dense forest area at night. This reportedly upset Manoj, who argued with the police and called the Circle Inspector (CI) before leaving at 12:30 AM.
Some reports claim that the police acted on instructions from Mohan Babu, fearing that Manoj might interfere in matters related to their family-run university.
