A particular shot from a romantic duet in ‘Mr. Bachchan’ has sparked controversy. Actor Ravi Teja is seen inappropriately touching actress Bhagyashri Borse. Director Harish Shankar has blamed the choreographer for the incident, claiming he didn’t object to it initially to avoid upsetting him.
Netizens are aghast. They feel that the actress was objectified beyond redemption in the film. A YouTuber blasted the movie and said, “Even objectification would be ashamed of.”
But why should we have any problem when Bhagyashri herself didn’t mind it? A Netizen wrote, “I do like to see a day when women can assertively turn down roles but let’s face it: young girls who are starting off seldom get roles to challenge their talent. They are mostly seen as ‘meat’ to lure the hero on screen. They can’t afford to say no when they are kick starting their career especially in a male dominated industry.”
