Mirai Review : A powerful mix of myth and fantasy that shines with visual grandeur

By TeluguFunda / September 12, 2025

Vedha Prajapati (Teja Sajja) is chosen to protect nine sacred scriptures that hold divine secrets. Standing against him is the menacing Mahabir Lama (Manchu Manoj), the “Black Sword,” who wants to seize them for dark purposes. With help from his mother Ambika (Shriya Saran), Vibha (Ritika Nayak), and spiritual guides like Agasthya Muni (Jayaram), Vedha embarks on a larger-than-life journey where devotion, destiny, and action collide.

Cast Performances

Teja Sajja: Proves his growth as a young star. Convincing in action, earnest in emotion.

Manchu Manoj: A fiery comeback; his villainy adds intensity to the film.

Ritika Nayak: Graceful but underused.

Shriya Saran: Emotional core as Ambika; elevates family moments.

Jagapathi Babu & Jayaram: Lend gravitas with their seasoned performances.

Technical Crew

Direction & Cinematography: Karthik Gattamneni – ambitious vision, stunning visuals, though narration feels uneven.

Production: People Media Factory – rich scale and grand sets.

Editing: A. Sreekar Prasad – sharp in action but overall runtime (169 mins) could’ve been tighter.

Music/BGM: Gowra Hari – background score lifts several sequences; songs lack recall value.

Art Direction: Sri Nagendra Tangala – excellent set design and detailing.

Dialogues: Manibabu Karanam – devotional and punchy at times, uneven at others.

Positives

Fresh mytho-fantasy concept rarely attempted in Telugu cinema.

Strong hero–villain performances (Teja & Manoj).

Lavish visuals, VFX, and grand scale.

Emotional moments (especially Shriya Saran’s role) connect well.

BGM enhances action and devotional feel.

Negatives

Lengthy runtime and slow narration in parts.

Songs don’t leave impact.

Villain’s characterization could’ve been deeper.

Emotional depth doesn’t always match the visual grandeur.

TeluguFunda Take

Mirai is a bold experiment that mixes devotion, fantasy, and action on a large canvas. It’s not a perfect film – pacing issues and uneven narration hold it back – but the ambition, scale, and sincere performances make it a worthy big-screen experience.

Final Verdict

A visually rich, ambitious mytho-fantasy action drama that deserves appreciation for its scale and effort. While not flawless, Mirai succeeds in delivering a fresh cinematic experience with grandeur and heart.

Rating: (3/5)

Verdict : A one-time big-screen watch that proves Telugu cinema is ready to dream bigger.
