Mega Prince Varun Tej is gearing up for an exciting return to the film set, as the regular shoot for his debut Pan Indian project, “Matka,” directed by Karuna Kumar of Palasa fame, is set to commence in December. The film, produced on a grand scale by Mohan Cherukuri (CVM) and Dr. Vijender Reddy Teegala of Vyra Entertainments, promises to be a captivating cinematic experience.
Pre-production activities are currently in full swing, with elaborate sets being erected to transport audiences to the bygone era of the 50s to 80s. The narrative unfolds against the backdrop of Vizag and is centered around a real incident that reverberated across the nation. To recreate the essence of old Vizag, an expansive set is being meticulously constructed in Hyderabad.
Scheduled to span the years 1958-1982, “Matka” will feature multiple action sequences, supervised by four accomplished fight masters. Varun Tej, donning four distinct looks, will undergo a complete transformation for the film, marking it as his highest-budget venture to date.
The cast includes the talented Norah Fatehi and Meenakshi Chowdary opposite Varun Tej, along with Naveen Chandra and Kannada Kishore in significant roles. The film is poised to showcase the actor’s versatility as he navigates through different phases of the narrative.
The creative team behind “Matka” boasts a lineup of exceptional technicians. GV Prakash Kumar, a prolific composer in the southern film industry, is set to create the musical backdrop, while Karthika Srinivas R takes on the role of the editor. Ashish Teja has been appointed as the production designer, and Suresh will serve as the art director.
“Matka” is not only a significant cinematic endeavor for Varun Tej but also for the entire cast and crew involved. The film is set to make its mark across linguistic boundaries, releasing in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi.
With an ensemble cast that includes Varun Tej, Nora Fatehi, Meenakshi Chowdary, Naveen Chandra, Kannada Kishore, Ajay Ghosh, Mime Gopi, Roopalakshmi, Vijayrama Raju, Jagadeesh, and Raj Thirandas, “Matka” is poised to captivate audiences with its compelling narrative and visual spectacle. As the shoot kicks off in December, the anticipation for this Pan Indian project continues to build.
