Karan Johar has been continuously running into losses with movies like Yodha, Bad Newz, Selfie etc. The recent movie that performed well and received ample amount of applause is Nikhil Nagesh’s Kill. Apart from that neither his films are getting applause not minting box office collections. So, who is gonna save Dharma Productions?

The Saregama Music label, owned by RP Sanjiv Goenka, was in talks with Karan Johar for the investment in the company, as per the report published by LiveMint. Media reports indicate that Dharma Productions has been actively seeking the investment.

Saregama already has stakes in Pocket Aces Pictures- which is planning to increase their digital portfolio.

“Saregama has been betting aggressively on content over the past few years, but it hasn’t really been able to make a mark as far as movie or OTT production goes. That said, thanks to its music catalogue, the company enjoys high valuation and has the wherewithal to acquire a stake in one of the top film production houses in the country,” ssid the representative of Saregama in an interview with LiveMint.

The recent numbers from Dharma Productions draws a gloomy picture. The revenue in FY23 stood at Rs. 1,044.16 crore, with a profit of ₹10.69 crore. In the same year, Saregama had a revenue of Rs. 7,90.3 crore, while net profit stood at Rs. 1,85.1 crore.
