‘Kalki 2898 AD’ makers demand Rs 25 Cr from ‘fake’ trade analysts

Box office collections of ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ have been contested by two Kolkata-based trade analysts named Sumit Kadel and Rohit Jaiswal. As per the duo, the makers of the dystopian epic sci-fi action entertainer have been presenting inflated numbers.

Bollywood Hungama has learned that the duo has been served legal notices for the “defamatory” social media posts put out by the duo in recent days. They have been asked to validate their numbers, failing which they would have to pay Rs 25 Cr as compensation for resorting to defamation.

In the past, the collections of several movies have been disputed. Trade analysts are a divided lot in India. The numbers cited by Mumbai-based trade analysts are disputed by, say, Hyderabad-based ones. And both numbers are trashed by producers at times. This is a grey area where a lot of source-based quoting of numbers takes place. Big-ticket films like ‘Jawan’, ‘Pathaan’ and ‘Brahmastra’ have courted controversy over the advertised collections in recent years.
