Thalapathy Vijay’s much-anticipated farewell film Jana Nayagan has run into fresh trouble following a last-minute postponement caused by a delay in securing its censor certificate. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) declined to issue the mandatory clearance, forcing the matter into court.
On Friday, Justice P.T. Asha directed the CBFC to immediately grant the film a U/A 16+ certificate, offering temporary relief to the makers and fans. However, the issue is far from settled. The CBFC has now decided to file a writ appeal before the first Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Manindra Mohan Shrivastava and Justice G. Arul Murugan, seeking an urgent hearing either later today or on Monday.
This ongoing legal tussle has left Vijay’s fans shocked and disappointed, as repeated hurdles continue to delay the film’s theatrical release.
Produced by KVN Productions, Jana Nayagan is an adaptation of the Telugu action drama Bhagavanth Kesari. The film features Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, and Mamitha Baiju in pivotal roles. With uncertainty still looming over the censor clearance, it appears that audiences may have to wait longer for Jana Nayagan to finally arrive on the silver screen.
