While ‘SWAG’ is a trendy English-language title, the Sree Vishnu-starrer is going to be rooted in Teluguness, says director Hasith Goli, whose film arrives at the cinemas on October 4th. The comedy drama, in which the ‘Samajavaragamana’ actor will be seen in four roles, talks about the significance of lineage as well.
The film touches upon the gender war debate prominently. “The debate has always been going on. ‘Swag’ is unique in how it gets linked to the lineage/descent angle,” Hasith Goli adds. He analyzes, “With the passage of time, the perspectives on genders and the dynamics between them have kept changing. There are matriarchal societies in different parts of the world. I liked exploring them as part of ‘Swag’,” the director says.

Sree Vishnu plays one contemporary individual, while three others belong to the past. Two of the old-gen characters are from the 1970s and ’90s. There is a character from the era of kings. Doesn’t having so many characters confuse the audience? “Yes. That’s why I put in extra effort in writing the screenplay,” Hasith says.
Produced by TG Vishwa Prasad under the People Media Factory banner, ‘Swag’ stars Ritu Varma as the female lead. Meera Jasmine, Sunil, Daksha Nagarkar, and Saranya Pradeep are joined by Goparaju Ramana and others. Vedaraman Sankaran handles cinematography, while Vivek Sagar provides the music. GM Shekar oversees the art department, and Nandu Master choreographs the action sequences.
