Superstar Mahesh Babu’s highly awaited first collaboration with filmmaker SS Rajamouli, officially titled Varanasi, was unveiled today with a mind-blowing glimpse that left fans in awe. The preview teases an epic cinematic universe that blends mythology, time travel, and grand visual storytelling.
The glimpse opens in 512 CE in Varanasi before jumping forward to 2027 CE, where an asteroid named Shambhavi strikes Earth. The narrative then travels across Antarctica, Africa, Vanaanchal, and finally transports viewers to Tretayugam (7200 BCE), where the introduction of Rudra, played by Mahesh Babu, takes center stage.
The teaser is packed with breathtaking VFX, culminating in a striking final shot of Mahesh as Rudra—intensely wielding a Trishul while riding Nandi. Calling it a dream project, Mahesh expressed his pride and excitement, hoping the film will make audiences across the world proud.
Rajamouli and his team reportedly spent nearly a year crafting this extraordinary output, hinting at a narrative that merges ancient mythology with futuristic time-jumping concepts promising a cinematic experience unlike anything seen before.
The film stars Priyanka Chopra Jonas as the female lead and Prithviraj Sukumaran as the primary antagonist. The project is being produced on a grand scale by Durga Arts.
