Storyline:
Eesha follows four friends Nayana, Aparna, Kalyan, and Vinay who set out to expose fake godmen exploiting innocent people. Their mission leads them to Aadhi Dev, a former neurologist turned godman operating near the Andhra Odisha border. When confronted, he dares them to spend three nights in a supposedly haunted abandoned house to prove spirits don’t exist. Accepting the challenge, the group soon experiences strange and disturbing events that begin to shake their rational beliefs. What truly unfolds inside the house forms the core of the film.
Positives:
Director Srinivas Manne attempts a different concept, using the horror genre to reveal a message in the climax.
Sound design occasionally helps in building an eerie atmosphere with creaks, thuds, and unsettling effects.
The mystery around the entity “Eesha” gains some clarity towards the end, and the climax works to a certain extent.
Performances are decent, with no major misfires from the cast.
Negatives:
The film fails to meet the high expectations created by its aggressive promotions.
The story follows a routine horror template with slow narration, especially in the first half.
Overuse of jump scares and loud sound effects fails to generate genuine fear.
The second half repeats the same issues, making the buildup feel stretched and unjustified.
Average performances and artificial emotions reduce immersion.
CG effects are merely passable and add little to the horror experience.
Technicalities:
Srinivas Manne struggles to deliver a gripping horror narrative due to weak writing and underdeveloped execution. While the technical team makes an effort, the cinematography, background score, and sound design are not utilized to their full potential—an essential requirement for a horror film to succeed.
Rating: 2.5/5
Final Verdict:
Overall, Eesha turns out to be a mediocre horror thriller that doesn’t live up to its pre-release hype. Despite a decent idea and a few tolerable moments, weak writing, repetitive scares, and dull execution hold it back. Hardcore horror fans may find a handful of scenes watchable, but general audiences are likely to walk away disappointed.
