The AP State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) has issued a five-day weather alert as Cyclone Montha approaches the coast, bringing with it the potential for intense rainfall and strong winds across several districts of Andhra Pradesh.
According to the latest forecast released on October 26, widespread rain is expected between October 26 and 30, with the heaviest impact anticipated on October 28 and 29.
North coastal districts including Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Parvathipuram Manyam, Alluri Sitarama Raju, Anakapalli, Kakinada, Konaseema, West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur, Prakasam, Nellore, and Tirupati are likely to experience heavy to extremely heavy rainfall, particularly from October 27 to 29.
Meanwhile, southern districts such as Kurnool, Nandyal, Anantapuram, Sri Sathya Sai, and YSR Kadapa are expected to see moderate to heavy rains, with intensity peaking around October 28 and 29. The Rayalaseema region may record relatively lighter rainfall at the start and end of the forecast period.
Coastal regions are bracing for rough sea conditions, and fishermen have been strictly advised not to venture into the sea from October 26 to 30, especially along and off the south Andhra coast.
Authorities have urged residents in low-lying and vulnerable areas to remain vigilant, follow official advisories, and take precautionary measures as Cyclone Montha continues to advance.
