A major controversy has shaken Tamil Nadu politics as police filed a case against Tamil superstar and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Thalapathy Vijay and his security team. Officers at Kunnam Police Station in Perambalur district acted on a complaint that accused Vijay’s bouncers of assault during the grand TVK state conference in Madurai on August 21, 2025.
Complaint Against Vijay’s Security
The complainant, Sharath Kumar, said Vijay’s bouncers pushed him violently when he tried to climb the ramp where Vijay walked to greet his supporters. He explained that he fell nearly seven feet and injured his chest. Sharath Kumar demanded strict action against Vijay and his bodyguards, insisting that they caused him serious pain and humiliation. Police immediately booked Vijay and his team under BNSS laws, including provisions for unlawful assembly and abetment of offence.
Videos Surface From the Rally
Eyewitness videos captured Vijay walking on a 300-metre ramp as lakhs of fans cheered. Many supporters tried to get closer to him. In one clip, security staff pushed a man clinging to the railing, and he slipped and fell. The video spread widely on social media and added more heat to the controversy.
Highlights of the TVK Conference
The Madurai event marked TVK’s second state-level conference and drew an enormous crowd. The rally began with cultural programs and flag hoisting. Vijay made a dramatic entry on the ramp as hundreds of bouncers guarded him. During his speech, he attacked the DMK, calling it his main political rival, and described the BJP as his “only ideological enemy.” Vijay told supporters: “TVK is not for publicity. This is an ideology. This is a warning to those in power. Crores of people are with us.”
Political Response and Supporters’ Stand
Police moved quickly on the complaint, but Vijay’s supporters accused the ruling party of plotting against him. They argued that political opponents filed the case because they could not digest the massive reception Vijay received in Madurai. They said the FIR only aims to disrupt his political growth.
Vijay’s Shift to Politics
Vijay continues to prepare for his full-time political career. He will release his final movie, Jana Nayagan, in January 2026. After that, he will quit acting permanently and devote himself to leading TVK in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections.
As the case unfolds, Tamil Nadu watches closely to see how Vijay balances his superstar image with his fast-rising political ambitions.
