Roshan Kanakala’s debut film ‘Bubblegum’ is directed by talented director Ravikant Perepu. Manasa Chaudhary is playing the heroine. Already the teaser, trailer and songs of this movie have created a huge buzz with tremendous response. The movie is being produced by Maheshwari Movies in association with People Media Factory and will release on December 29. In this context, director Ravikant shared the features of the film in a press conference.

How did the journey with bubblegum begin?

After ‘Ksanam’ I did Krishna and Leela. Originally it was to be released in Krishna and Leela theaters. But due to covid lock down it was released in OTT. Actors’ schedules have changed due to the lock down. There are more projects to be done. In this order, I wrote the story ‘Bubblegum’ to do with the newcomers. I already know Roshan. I met Roshan knowing that he was being introduced as a hero. He seemed a perfect fit for this story. Then our journey started. We started shooting in July and made the film very fast. ‘Bubblegum’ is a subject that connects everyone.

The reason for doing this story with new people?

This is a story for beginners. After 22 years we complete college and enter the real world. Till then our family and parents will protect us. Once we go out in search of our passion, everything feels new. What kind of career should be chosen in this order? Is money enough? Should we do what we love? There are many confusions like this. How can we deal with unexpected love in life at a time like this?

The reason for giving the title ‘Bubblegum’?

There is a dialogue on bubblegum in this movie. Love and relationships are like bubblegum..it is sweet in the beginning. Then it sticks. (laughs)

Is this a love story? Or will love be a part of a boy’s life?

It is primarily a love story. Will it look like a rock star even when the trailer is released? Or was it like a musician film? But this is a relationship drama where the love story is the main focus.

In the trailer, the hero character is shown aggressively like Arjun Reddy, isn’t it? Is that the case in this story?

Arjun Reddy is different.. this is different. Unlike Arjun Reddy, the hero has no anger issues in this. But when Arjun Reddy gets angry, he says that even if anyone gets angry, it is Arjun Reddy. Not everyone gets angry. (Laughs)

Many people are already appreciating Roshan’s performance.. What would you say as an audience?

Roshan is fantastic. Seen in the trailer is only ten percent. He did a great job in the movie. Both Roshan and Manasa acted very well. Also, the rest of the actors who acted in it also showed good talent.

Did Suma garu see rushes and give any suggestions? A bit of bold content too?

Or not. Their involvement is nothing. Roshan Kay left the whole thing. They strongly believed in me and Roshan.

About Shri Charan Pakala music?

I know Sricharan since I was in school. Since they belong to the same town, that comfort was established from the beginning. Samsham, Krishna and Leela.. Now he did it for ‘Bubblegum’. Habibi, Jaanu, Izzat songs got very good response. There are two more songs.

About heroine Manasa Chaudhary?

Manasa is Telugu. She acted very well. As he understands Telugu, he also understands the sub text in our writing. This made it easier. Now Telugu girls are coming as heroines. This makes the nativity a little more believable.

About the production house?

Maheshwari Movies, People Media Factory are wonderful production houses. Everything needed for the film has been provided without any compromise. Budgeted more than what should have been budgeted. The production and promotions were done very well.

How did it feel to meet Chiranjeevi?

It was truly a fan boy moment for me. I am a die hard fan of Chiranjeevi. He liked the song of Izzat very much.

A big movie like Salaar is in the theatres, isn’t it? Do you want a perfect release on December 29?

What is not in Salar is in our movie. What is missing in our film is in Salar. (Laughs) After the release of our teaser, there was a lot of buzz. Also the songs got a good response. We thought to release this buzz. I believe that everyone will like this buzz-killing movie. Interval and climax are highlights in the movie. The audience is strongly touched.

Do you want to increase the speed of making movies?

Absolutely. There was some gap between the movie and the movie. But it took some time to understand the situation in the industry. I will try to increase the speed from now on.

What is your favorite genre?

Drama.. Action Drama.

About new movies?

At present my focus is on the release of ‘Bubblegum’. I will focus on a new project after the release of this film.
