Bollywood Producers Battle for Film Titles After Operation Sindoor Strike

By TeluguFunda / May 9, 2025

After India boldly launched Operation Sindoor in response to the Pahalgam terror attack, top Bollywood producers rushed to register film titles related to the mission. Major studios and filmmakers filed over 30 applications as they tried to capitalize on the patriotic wave sweeping the nation. This sudden rush triggered intense competition among the industry’s biggest names.

Producers Register Over 30 Film Titles on Operation Sindoor and Pahalgam Attack

Following the Army’s surgical strike that targeted nine terrorist locations in Pakistan and PoK, film producers flooded title registration bodies like the Indian Motion Picture Producers Association (IMPPA) and Indian Film and Television Producers Council (IFTPC). Applications started pouring in within hours of the mission’s announcement. IFTPC reported that applicants submitted 10–12 requests, while IMPPA registered 25 titles in just two days.

The titles include Operation Sindoor, Operation Sindoor Magnum, Pahalgam: The Horrific Terror, and The Pahalgam Terror. Many producers filed these titles for both film and web series formats.

Big Names Enter the Race for Operation Sindoor Titles

Prominent production banners are leading the charge. John Abraham’s production house, Aditya Dhar, Madhur Bhandarkar, Mahaveer Jain, and Ashoke Pandit submitted applications. Studios like Zee Studios, JP Films, Bombay Show Studio, and Almighty Motion Picture also joined the race.

Ashoke Pandit confirmed filing a title and emphasized the need to capture important national events through cinema. He noted that such stories deeply resonate with people, especially those who have experienced the impact of terrorism firsthand.

Reliance Withdraws Application After Controversy

Interestingly, Reliance Industries initially filed a trademark for Operation Sindoor but later withdrew it. In a statement, they explained that a junior team member mistakenly submitted the application. They emphasized their unwavering support for India’s armed forces and stated that Operation Sindoor had become a national symbol of Indian bravery, which no one should claim commercially.

Why This Trend Matters

According to industry insiders, producers commonly register titles after major national events. The success of films like Uri and Article 370 increased the demand for war-themed titles. Even if producers don’t make films immediately, they prefer securing titles early to keep their options open.

With national pride running high, Bollywood now prepares to bring Operation Sindoor’s heroic mission to the big screen.
