Balayya and Rajinikanth to Receive Rare Honor Together at IFFI 2025

In a historic and celebratory moment for Indian cinema, two legendary icons of South Indian film history Superstar Rajinikanth and Nandamuri Balakrishna are set to receive a rare joint honour. Both stalwarts, who have completed an extraordinary 50 years in the film industry, will be felicitated at the closing ceremony of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa.

The announcement was made by Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Dr. L. Murugan during a media interaction in Goa. He stated that the government will confer this special recognition upon Rajinikanth and Balakrishna to celebrate their five-decade-long journey, remarkable contributions, and towering influence on Indian cinema.

A Celebration of Two Monumental Careers

Rajinikanth, who made his debut with Apoorva Raagangal in 1975, has since become a cultural phenomenon across India and beyond. With an unparalleled fan base and a legacy of iconic films, he remains one of the most beloved figures in Indian entertainment.

Nandamuri Balakrishna fondly known as Balayya has also carved an extraordinary path, acting in over 100 films over the last five decades. Apart from his cinematic achievements, he is also an active political leader and currently serves as the MLA from Hindupur in Andhra Pradesh. Earlier this year, Balakrishna was honoured with the Padma Bhushan Award, adding yet another feather to his illustrious cap.

IFFI 2025: A Global Film Celebration

The 55th edition of IFFI will take place in Goa from November 20 to 27, with the closing ceremony scheduled at the Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium. This year, the festival has attracted 7,500 registered delegates, and an impressive lineup of 270 films from 84 countries will be showcased.

The joint felicitation of Rajinikanth and Balakrishna is expected to be one of the highlights of the festival, bringing together fans, filmmakers, and global cinema enthusiasts in a memorable celebration of their legacy.
