Director Anil Ravipudi has finally opened up about why he chose not to helm Jana Nayagan, which was initially planned with Tamil superstar Vijay. The filmmaker revealed that the project did not move forward due to creative differences, particularly over the film’s concept.
Ravipudi disclosed that Jana Nayagan was envisioned as a remake of his Telugu blockbuster Bhagavanth Kesari. However, he was not keen on revisiting the same story in another language. The director stated that he always prefers narrating fresh subjects rather than remaking his own films.
According to sources, Vijay was quite firm about adapting Bhagavanth Kesari and wanted to proceed with the remake. Since their creative visions did not align, the collaboration did not materialize, and the project was eventually handed over to another director.
Jana Nayagan is still awaiting its theatrical release, while Anil Ravipudi has moved on to new projects that align with his storytelling approach.
