Anaganaga Oka Raju movie review:A light-hearted Sankranthi entertainer that banks on Naveen Polishetty’s comic timing and screen presence

By TeluguFunda / January 14, 2026

Storyline:

Raju (Naveen Polishetty) belongs to a once-rich family that lost its wealth due to his grandfather’s reckless lifestyle. Dreaming of marrying into riches, Raju crosses paths with Charulatha (Meenakshi Chaudhary). With his wit and tricks, he tries to win her heart, but an unexpected twist changes the course of his plans and leads him into a series of humorous and dramatic situations.

Positives:

Naveen Polishetty delivers a complete one-man show with his sharp comic timing, expressions, and energy.

His involvement in the writing adds freshness to many humorous scenes.

Several comedy sequences, especially in the first half, are entertaining and engaging.

Naveen’s efforts to impress the heroine and win the villagers during local elections provide good laughs.

Meenakshi Chaudhary performs well and surprises with her Telugu dialogue delivery and chemistry with the hero.

Supporting actors like Rao Ramesh and Chammak Chandra add value.

Negatives:

The emotional portion in the climax fails to connect and feels forced.

Sudden tonal shift from comedy to seriousness feels unnatural.

Weak storyline with similarities to films like Pilla Zamindar.

Second half slows down and needed tighter editing.

The special song featuring Saanve Meghhana interrupts the flow.

Villain track is underdeveloped and ineffective.

Technicalities:

Micky J Meyer’s music is decent, with a couple of songs working well on screen.

J. Yuvraj’s cinematography nicely captures rural visuals.

Editing is sharp in the first half but lacks grip in the second.

Director Maari handles comedy well but falters in emotional execution.

Rating:

3/5

Final Verdict:

Anaganaga Oka Raju is a watchable festive entertainer driven almost entirely by Naveen Polishetty’s talent. While the film delivers laughs and fun moments, it suffers from a weak storyline and an underwhelming emotional climax. Go in with modest expectations, and it works as a decent time-pass movie this Sankranthi.
