A mass-loaded sequel that fails to recreate the magic of its predecessor, burdened by weak writing and clueless execution.
Storyline
Janani (Harshaali Malhotra), now an 18-year-old scientist, works on ‘Bio-Shield’, a protective weapon for the Indian Army. As she faces challenges during her research, DRDO tasks her team with creating an antidote for a deadly virus. How Akhanda Rudra Sikandar Aghora (Nandamuri Balakrishna) steps in to guide and protect Janani and her mission forms the rest of the story.
Positives
NBK’s strong and majestic performance
Opening sequence & pre-interval block
Negatives
Cringeworthy and illogical writing
Pointless direction with no emotional depth
Over-the-top, gravity-defying action blocks
Loud and ineffective background score
Poorly written roles for Samyuktha & Aadhi Pinisetty
Miscasting for Janani’s crucial character
Silly English dialogues that weaken the impact
Technicalities
Music director Thaman S fails to recreate the magic of the first part. His background score is excessively loud and the songs do not make an impact. Cinematography by Ram Prasad & Santosh Detake is decent, capturing the Ladakh locales well, but the heavy green-screen usage is very evident throughout. Editing by Tammiraju feels routine due to the director’s weak execution. Action choreography defies logic and relies on exaggerated stunt work, making many sequences look artificial.

Final Verdict
Akhanda 2: Thaandavam had a promising premise and a proven combination, but Boyapati Srinu’s uninspiring and misguided execution turns it into a cringeworthy sequel. Despite NBK’s sincere effort and a decent first half, the film collapses in the second half with endless action blocks, lack of emotion, and poor storytelling. A wasted opportunity that fails to live up to the legacy of its franchise.
