Roja Selvamani has been a firebrand YSRCP leader. She is now in the thick of a controversy for signalling two women cleaning staff members not to come within her touching distance.
The objectionable incident happened on the premises of the Thiruchendur Murugan temple in Tamil Nadu. She can be seen gesturing to the women to maintain distance from her while taking a selfie with her. Her husband and director RK Selvamani accompanied her to the temple.
One of the women at the receiving end could be seen feeling slighted by Roja’s “elitist and discriminatory” attitude. Politically, this might come back to haunt Roja if her political rivals make it a big issue.
After the recent election results, Roja expressed doubts over the legitimacy of the results. “YSRCP polled 40% votes but Jagan anna couldn’t become the CM. With a similar vote share for the NDA, Modi could become the PM,” she said.
