Vijay Deverakonda’s box office struggles continue as his latest release, Ranabaali, has delivered ordinary numbers during its opening weekend. Despite the buzz surrounding the period drama, the film opened to modest collections on its first day and maintained a similar pace over the following days. Although Sunday witnessed a slight improvement, the overall performance has fallen short of expectations.
One of the few positives for Ranabaali is that the film managed to hold reasonably well throughout the weekend without witnessing a significant drop, despite receiving low ratings. Set against the backdrop of Rayalaseema, the period drama appears to have retained some audience interest after its initial theatrical response. However, the steady trend has not translated into the kind of strong box office numbers needed to make a major impact.
Directed by Rahul Sankrityan and produced by Mythri Movie Makers, Ranabaali reportedly collected around Rs. 37 crore in worldwide gross during its first weekend, including approximately Rs. 28 crore from the Indian market. Released exclusively in Telugu, the film has relied entirely on the domestic Telugu audience and overseas Telugu viewers to drive its theatrical performance.
The film’s North American performance has also emerged as a concern, as it failed to cross the $1 million mark during its opening weekend. The numbers have raised further questions about Vijay Deverakonda’s current box office pull, with the actor facing challenges in attracting large audiences to theatres across domestic and international markets.
Meanwhile, the other Telugu releases of the weekend, Crazy Kalyanam and Garividi Lakshmi, have performed even worse, failing to make a significant impression at the box office. With an ordinary opening weekend behind it, Ranabaali now needs stronger weekday collections and sustained audience support to improve its overall theatrical performance.
