US President Donald Trump abruptly ended a televised interview with NBC’s Meet the Press after a tense exchange with anchor Kristen Welker over his repeated claims that elections in California were rigged.

The interview began with a discussion about California’s vote-counting process. Trump questioned why election results in the state often take several days to be finalized, suggesting that the delay was evidence of electoral misconduct.

“It’s four days, and they aren’t even close to coming up with the results,” Trump said, referring to the state’s counting procedures.

Welker responded by explaining that California’s extended vote-counting timeline is part of its established election system. However, the conversation quickly intensified when Trump alleged that the delays were proof of election fraud.

When Welker repeatedly asked the president to provide evidence supporting his claims, Trump failed to present any concrete proof, instead stating that he relied on what he observed and heard from others.

The discussion soon shifted from election procedures to a broader attack on the media. Trump accused California election officials, NBC, and several major news organizations of being “crooked,” while also directing criticism at Welker personally.

As Welker defended herself and challenged his assertions, Trump escalated the confrontation, telling the journalist that she was “either crooked or stupid.” He also accused NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, and other media outlets of biased reporting.

The interview reached a breaking point when Trump decided to end the conversation abruptly.

“Sorry. Let’s call it quits because I’ve had enough. Thank you, darling. Have a good time,” Trump said before removing his microphone and throwing it to the ground.

Despite Welker’s attempts to continue the interview, Trump walked away, claiming he had already given enough time and urging the media to “straighten out” its coverage.

The dramatic exchange is the latest in a series of confrontations between Trump and journalists. Just days earlier, the president had clashed with CNN reporter Kaitlan Collins, criticizing both the journalist and the network during a separate media interaction.
