The Andhra Pradesh government is exploring a new tourism initiative that could transform the state’s coastal experience by introducing Goa-style beach shacks and seaside liquor outlets. The move is part of the government’s broader strategy to strengthen the tourism sector and attract larger numbers of domestic and international visitors.
According to reports, the proposed model would allow private operators to establish beachside outlets where tourists can purchase and enjoy ready-to-consume beverages while relaxing by the sea. Similar concepts have long been a major attraction in Goa, drawing visitors seeking a vibrant beachside lifestyle.
In addition to beach shacks, the government is also said to be examining the possibility of introducing affordable liquor options, another feature often associated with Goa’s tourism ecosystem. Officials believe such measures could help create a more attractive and competitive tourism environment along Andhra Pradesh’s coastline.
The initiative is expected to begin as a pilot project, with two key locations currently under consideration—Chirala Beach and Visakhapatnam Beach. The government plans to assess public response and tourism impact before considering expansion to other coastal destinations.
Industry observers note that Andhra Pradesh possesses a significant advantage in the form of its extensive coastline, which stretches for nearly 1,000 kilometers. If executed effectively, the beach shack model could unlock new opportunities for tourism-driven economic growth, hospitality investments, and employment generation.
With Goa’s tourism market becoming increasingly mature and familiar to many travelers, Andhra Pradesh sees an opportunity to position itself as a fresh coastal destination offering a similar beach experience. If the pilot project delivers positive results, the state could emerge as one of India’s most attractive seaside tourism hubs in the coming years.
