KTR’s Measured Response to Pawan Kalyan’s Telangana Push

By TeluguFunda / June 3, 2026

After making a significant impact on Andhra Pradesh politics in 2024, Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan appears to be shifting some of his political focus toward Telangana. His recent press conference at Jubilee Hills sparked fresh political debate after he strongly criticized the Telangana government and alleged that certain political forces were trying to obstruct his political activities in the state.

Pawan Kalyan asserted that he would not be intimidated by such challenges and reiterated his commitment to expanding Jana Sena’s presence in Telangana. His remarks quickly drew responses from various political leaders, including BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao.

Responding to Pawan Kalyan’s comments, KTR adopted a relatively measured tone compared to some of the sharper reactions seen from other political figures. He stated that no one was preventing Pawan Kalyan from entering or operating in Telangana and pointed out that the actor-politician and his family have lived in the state for years without facing any issues.

KTR emphasized that Telangana belongs to all those who live and contribute to it, while also expressing concern over what he described as questions being raised about the sentiments and integrity of Telangana’s people. He maintained that he respects Pawan Kalyan both as an individual and as a politician but cautioned against attempting to gain political mileage through provocative narratives.

The BRS leader further noted that political participation in Telangana has always been open, citing Jana Sena’s involvement in the 2023 Assembly elections. He also referenced the participation of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in Telangana politics during the 2018 elections as an example of the state’s democratic openness.

Political observers noted that KTR’s response was notably calculated and restrained, especially when compared to some of the more aggressive reactions from leaders across the political spectrum. His comments appeared aimed at countering Pawan Kalyan’s narrative without escalating the confrontation.

As Pawan Kalyan continues to signal his intention to strengthen Jana Sena’s footprint in Telangana and has already indicated plans to contest the 2028 Assembly elections, his political moves are increasingly drawing attention from major parties in both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The developments suggest that his growing political ambitions could reshape regional political equations in the years ahead.
