The Ramoji Excellence Awards held in Hyderabad turned into an emotional tribute as the Chief Ministers of both Telugu states N. Chandrababu Naidu of Andhra Pradesh and A. Revanth Reddy of Telangana spoke with deep admiration about the late media icon Ramoji Rao. “He Never Asked Me for a Single Favor”: Chandrababu Naidu

AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu described Ramoji Rao as one of the most principled and influential figures he had ever encountered. Despite wielding immense power, Ramoji never once used his influence for personal benefit.

“Ramoji Rao had the ability to move mountains with just one call, but he never misused his power. He never asked me or anyone else for any personal favor. His loyalty was always to society, not to himself,” Chandrababu said.

He also recalled that during times when the political opposition in Andhra Pradesh weakened, Ramoji took it upon himself to act as a moral opposition through his media platforms, raising public issues fearlessly and maintaining democratic balance.

Revanth Reddy’s Humorous but Heartfelt Memory

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy shared a personal anecdote that provided both humor and insight into Ramoji Rao’s values.

He recounted that in 2009, before the united Andhra Pradesh election results, he and a few colleagues visited Ramoji Rao hoping he would recommend them for cabinet positions in a possible Chandrababu-led government.

“We went there expecting his support. Without us saying a word, he understood why we had come,” Revanth said, prompting laughter from the gathering.

Ramoji, however, immediately advised them that he never recommended anyone for minister posts, reminding them that true political rise comes through service as an MLA, not through seeking portfolios. Revanth said this lesson stayed with him and shaped his political maturity.
