Tollywood superstar Prabhas returns to the big screen with his highly-awaited horror-comedy The Raja Saab. After months of confusion about the release date, producer TG Vishwa Prasad confirmed that the film will hit theaters worldwide on January 9, 2026, as a special Sankranthi release.
This announcement ends all speculation about a possible December 5, 2025 release. The makers revealed the date during the trailer launch of Mirai, giving fans long-awaited clarity and excitement.
Why The Raja Saab Faced Delays
The team has worked on the film for quite some time and encountered several obstacles. The recent film workers’ strike forced them to pause production. Once the strike ended, the crew quickly resumed shooting and tightened schedules to complete the project.
Reports state that the team will finish principal photography by October 2025. They still need to shoot three songs and a few crucial scenes. The makers designed one of the busiest shooting calendars in recent memory to avoid further setbacks. At the same time, the VFX team continues work to ensure the film stays on track for its Sankranthi release.
The Raja Saab Cast and Crew
Director Maruthi has shaped The Raja Saab as a romantic horror comedy with a strong entertainment factor. The movie stars Malavika Mohanan, Nidhhi Agerwal, and Riddhi Kumar alongside Prabhas, while Sanjay Dutt plays an important role. Popular composer Thaman has created the soundtrack, which fans expect to add festive energy to the release.
Prabhas’ presence alone raises expectations sky-high. His reputation as a pan-Indian star guarantees massive anticipation across multiple markets.
Sankranthi 2026 Box Office Battle
By choosing Sankranthi 2026, The Raja Saab will face one of the biggest clashes in recent times. Competing releases include Chiranjeevi’s Mana Shankar Vara Prasad Garu, Vijay’s Jana Nayagan, and Naveen Polishetty’s Anaganaga Oka Raju. Additionally, Tamil star Sivakarthikeyan’s Parasakthi will add to the crowded line-up.
Although The Raja Saab could have enjoyed a solo release in December, the makers deliberately picked the festive season. They aim to capture family audiences and holiday footfalls, betting on strong word of mouth to drive success even in a competitive market.
What Lies Ahead for Prabhas
After The Raja Saab, Prabhas will join Sandeep Reddy Vanga for the high-octane cop drama Spirit. He will also collaborate with Hanu Raghavapudi on a period action drama, tentatively titled Fauji. These projects highlight Prabhas’ busy schedule and reinforce his position as one of India’s most bankable stars.
