Telugu superstar Allu Arjun, best known for his role in Pushpa 2, has been arrested in connection with the tragic stampede at Hyderabad’s Sandhya Theatre. On December 13, the Nampally Court remanded the actor to 14 days of judicial custody, following a complaint about negligence that led to the death of a 39-year-old woman, Revathi. Arjun has now moved the Telangana High Court, seeking to quash the FIR registered against him.
The stampede occurred on December 4, when a massive crowd gathered to catch a glimpse of the actor during a public appearance. Revathi tragically died due to asphyxiation, and her 8-year-old son was hospitalized. Police registered a case against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theatre management after receiving a complaint from Revathi’s family.
Court Proceedings and High Court Battle
Arjun was arrested on Friday and taken to the Chikkadapally police station for questioning. He was then presented in the Nampally Court, which ordered his judicial custody. Following the verdict, heavy security was deployed at Chanchalguda Jail, where Arjun is expected to stay unless granted relief.
The actor has since appealed to the Telangana High Court, requesting the FIR be dismissed. Prominent figures like producer Allu Aravind, director Trivikram, and Dil Raju were present during the ongoing hearing. However, the judge observed that quashing the FIR may not be possible at this stage, as Arjun has already been sent to judicial custody.

Medical Examination and Public Statements
Doctors at Gandhi Hospital conducted Arjun’s medical tests in a secured room to avoid fan chaos. All reports were normal, and he was subsequently taken back to court.
Meanwhile, Revathi’s husband, Bhaskar, expressed his intent to withdraw the case, stating, “Allu Arjun is not responsible for my wife’s death.”
Family and Industry Support
Actor and Andhra Pradesh Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan, who is Arjun’s uncle, rushed to his residence in Jubilee Hills to extend support. Veteran actor Chiranjeevi also visited to stand by the family during this challenging time.
Ongoing Investigation
The police confirmed that Arjun has been named as Accused Number 11 (A11) in the case. Eight other individuals, including members of the theatre management and Arjun’s security team, have also been arrested. As the High Court deliberates on Arjun’s quash petition, the case has sparked debates about celebrity events and crowd safety.
