Dulquer Salmaan and Rana Daggubati are coming together as actors and producers for the much-awaited period drama Kaanta. Set against the backdrop of the old film industry, the movie has drawn curiosity and speculation is it targeting anyone or exposing the dark side of cinema?

At the Kaanta trailer launch event held in Hyderabad, Rana Daggubati addressed these questions head-on. When a journalist asked whether the film, which revolves around the egos of two individuals within the industry, might hurt anyone’s sentiments, Rana offered a clear and confident response.

“No one will be hurt after watching Kaanta. I can say that with certainty,” Rana assured. He explained that the film isn’t about the “dark side” of the film industry but about the dark side within human beings.

Elaborating further, Rana said,

“Every person has a dark side, a dark ego within them. Kaanta is built on that very idea. The film industry backdrop is just a setting the real story revolves around the conflict between a mentor and his disciple.”

When asked if the film is based on real-life incidents, Rana clarified,

“It’s not inspired by any single true event. However, we did take inspiration from several real-life experiences. It doesn’t target or reference anyone in particular.”

Overall, Kaanta explores the universal emotion of ego, set against a vintage cinema backdrop. With Rana’s clarity on the film’s intent, expectations around the project have grown even higher.

The film is all set to hit theatres on November 14.
