In his latest interview, producer KE Gnanavel Raja said that all trolling against ‘Kanguva’ is driven by fan wars and political motives. The former is self-explanatory. What is the latter about?
A section of movie-goers are pissed off with ‘Kanguva’ for being historically “illiterate”. A social media user argued that the film doesn’t know Tamil history. “In the year 1070, the Tamil people were world conquerors led by the Chola Empire. But this film reduces them to Ooga Booga figures equal to Africans fighting a fictional Roman Emperor, that too in 1070 AD. Like you want me to believe that the people who built Gangaikonda Cholapuram and invaded Indonesia used to eat raw meat and live naked. What sort of Ooga Booga Love is this?” a social media user asked.
Another netizen wrote, “From Vikram-starrer ‘Thanglaan’ to all other big budget movies in Tamil do similar things. They are too drunk on the atrocity literature. ‘Ponniyan Selvan’ is the only exception.”
‘Kaguva’ is directed by Siva. It also stars Bobby Deol and Disha Patani.
