Vyuham Producer Dasari Kiran Arrested in Rs 4.5 Crore Loan Dispute

Tollywood film producer Dasari Kiran Kumar, best known for backing Ram Gopal Varma’s political drama Vyuham, now faces serious legal trouble. On Wednesday, Hyderabad police arrested him on behalf of Vijayawada’s Patamata police and shifted him to Vijayawada. The police acted after a major financial dispute involving a loan of Rs 4.5 crore came to light.

Complaint by Relative Over Loan

The case started when Kiran’s relative, Gajula Mahesh, who runs a travel agency in Hyderabad, filed a complaint. Mahesh said that two years ago, he lent Kiran Rs 4.5 crore, but Kiran refused to return the money despite repeated requests.

On August 18, Mahesh and his wife went to Kiran’s office in Vijayawada to demand repayment. They alleged that Kiran and nearly 15 of his associates attacked them instead of addressing their request. The couple immediately reported the incident to the police, which triggered swift action.

Police Action and Arrest

Patamata police registered a case based on Mahesh’s complaint and asked Hyderabad police for assistance. Hyderabad police detained Kiran and handed him over to Vijayawada authorities. The police questioned him and then took him into custody. They also instructed him to appear again later this month for further investigation.

Kiran’s Career and Political Links

Dasari Kiran Kumar built his name in Tollywood and politics. He earlier served on the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) board during the YSRCP government. His close links with political leaders and his film career have turned this case into a major public discussion.

Kiran has produced several films, including Genius, Vangaveeti, Siddharth, and Vyuham. Among these, Vyuham stood out because it portrayed the life of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.
