Visakhapatnam Leads the Race: Chandrababu’s Signature Development on the Coast

By TeluguFunda / December 2, 2025

With the recent arrival of the Google Data Center in Visakhapatnam, the region is witnessing rapid industrial momentum. Several allied companies are now gearing up to establish their bases, and Reliance is also setting up a major Data Hub in the city.

Andhra Pradesh currently has 26 districts, divided from the earlier 13 undivided districts. Whether one considers the older undivided districts or the newly formed ones, a few regions have been progressing at remarkable speed. For instance, after the establishment of Sri City in Tirupati, industries began flocking to the region. Similarly, Anantapur gained traction after the arrival of Kia Motors, resulting in notable development. The announcement of Amaravati as the capital also triggered visible changes in Vijayawada and Guntur, especially with skyrocketing land prices.

However, rising above them all, Visakhapatnam has now emerged as the major name resonating across global platforms. Although parts of the former Visakhapatnam district were carved out to form Anakapalli district during reorganization, the greater Vizag region continues to stand as a symbol of rapid development. Since the beginning, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has envisioned transforming Vizag into an IT capital, attracting a queue of industries to the city.

Film industry activities, too, gained momentum over time. After the alliance government came to power in 2024, the focus on Visakhapatnam intensified further, especially toward strengthening the IT ecosystem and bringing in more high-value industries.

The Google Data Center has laid the foundation for multiple associated companies to follow. Reliance’s Data Hub, upcoming facilities from Infosys and Tata TCS, and investments from several international firms have added immense value to Vizag’s growth story. The soon-to-open Lulu Mall is also expected to be a major attraction, boosting commercial activity.

Thanks to these developments, Visakhapatnam now carries what many describe as an indelible signature of Chandrababu Naidu on its coastline. The real estate market has surged significantly, with land prices soaring due to rising demand, new job opportunities, and large-scale investments.

Alongside industrial development, tourism is being given equal priority. The government is exploring options to transform the Rushikonda Palace constructed during the previous YSRCP regime—into either a major tourist attraction or a luxury hotel. If finalized, it is expected to become one of the biggest tourism hubs in the region.

Experts say that compared to other districts, Visakhapatnam now stands at a distinct advantage and is poised to become the most advanced district in Andhra Pradesh in the coming years.
