Retro' Telugu Pre-Release, Vijay Deverakonda, Retro Pre-Release Event at JRC Hyderabad

The Telugu pre-release event of Retro, the much-awaited Tamil action-drama starring Suriya, will take place on Saturday at 6 PM at JRC Convention Centre, Hyderabad. The biggest highlight of the event is that Vijay Deverakonda will attend as the chief guest. His appearance will likely create strong buzz for the film’s Telugu release.

Director Karthik Subbaraj already generated high anticipation in Tamil circles with Retro, but the Telugu response remains underwhelming. The theatrical trailer, with its western-inspired visuals and unique storytelling, didn’t connect well with Telugu audiences. To revive the film’s hype in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, the team now relies on star power and aggressive promotions.

Retro Gets U/A Certificate with a Lengthy Runtime

The team completed censor formalities recently and secured a U/A certificate from the CBFC. The film runs for 2 hours and 48 minutes (168 minutes), which means it offers a content-rich experience that demands full attention from the audience.

Naga Vamsi takes charge of the Telugu distribution under Sithara Entertainments, the same banner backing Vijay Deverakonda’s upcoming project Kingdom. This connection makes his appearance at the event all the more relevant and strategic.

Star-Studded Cast and Musical Success Raise Expectations

Apart from Suriya, Retro also features Pooja Hegde as the female lead, with Jayaram, Karunakaran, and Joju George playing key roles. Suriya and Jyotika produced the film under their home banner 2D Entertainment.

Santhosh Narayanan composed the soundtrack, which already earned a positive response. Songs like “Kannaadi Poove,” “Kannima,” and “The One” trended on YouTube and Instagram, helping the film expand its reach beyond Tamil audiences.

Karthik Subbaraj Aims to Win Over Telugu Audiences

Although Telugu audiences respect Karthik Subbaraj as a filmmaker, he still struggles to achieve consistent success in the region. Except for Pizza, his films like Petta and Jigarthanda Double X didn’t connect well. Only Mahaan managed to leave some impact. With Retro, he now hopes to break that pattern.

However, Retro faces a box office clash with Nani’s HIT 3, making strong word of mouth even more crucial. If Vijay Deverakonda’s star power and Suriya’s fan base combine effectively, Retro might pull off a surprise hit in Telugu.

This Saturday’s event in Hyderabad could mark a turning point for Retro in the Telugu states.
