Telugu actor Vijay Deverakonda now faces intense backlash after he compared the recent Pahalgam terror attack in Kashmir to ancient tribal clashes. A lawyer has filed a formal complaint against him at the SR Nagar police station in Hyderabad, accusing him of making insensitive and offensive remarks against tribal communities during a public event.

Vijay Deverakonda’s Comment Sparks Controversy

At a pre-release event for a Tamil film starring Suriya Sivakumar, Deverakonda appeared as the chief guest. While addressing the crowd, he commented on the Pahalgam terror attack and said the violence reminded him of tribal wars from 500 years ago. He criticized how such violence still occurs despite modern awareness and education. His words suggested that those behind the attack think like uneducated ancient tribes, which angered many listeners.

Tribal Associations Demand an Apology

Several tribal associations across the state strongly condemned Deverakonda’s statement. They accused him of insulting Adivasis by comparing them to terrorists and demanded a public apology. They claimed his words reflected ignorance and disrespected the cultural and historical identity of indigenous communities.

Lawyer Files Complaint in Hyderabad

Kishan Lal Chauhan, a city-based lawyer, directly lodged the complaint with SR Nagar police. He stated that Deverakonda’s comments offended tribal people and had the potential to promote hatred. The police confirmed that they received the complaint and said they would take action based on legal advice.

Vijay Deverakonda Stays Silent Amid Film Promotions

Despite the growing outrage, Deverakonda has not responded to the controversy. He currently focuses on promoting his upcoming Telugu film Kingdom, directed by Gautham Tinnanuri, known for Jersey. The film’s first song promo, which features romantic scenes between Vijay and actress Bhagya Sri, has already gone viral. Composer Anirudh Ravichander has delivered the soundtrack, and producer Naga Vamsi has backed the film under the Sitara banner.
