In a moment of immense pride for the Telugu film industry, veteran actor, producer, and politician Shri Murali Mohan Garu has been conferred with the prestigious Padma Shri Award by the Government of India. The announcement, made on the eve of the 77th Republic Day, recognizes his contribution to the Arts and his five-decade-long legacy in Indian cinema.

Celebrations have erupted across Tollywood, with industry stalwarts and fans pouring in their wishes. Among the most striking tributes is a special congratulatory poster released by the team of his upcoming film, Andhrula Annapurna Dokka Seethamma.

A Divine Gesture from the Movie Unit
The team at Usha Rani Movies, led by producer Valluri Rambabu, released a captivating poster (pictured above) to mark this milestone. Adorned with rudraksha beads, a tilak, and clad in traditional attire, the veteran actor is seen offering a ‘Namaste’ with a look of deep devotion.

The poster features the text “Congratulations Shri Murali Mohan Garu on being honored with the prestigious Padma Shri Award,” rendered in bold gold lettering, reflecting the golden phase of his illustrious career.

The film that serves as the backdrop for this wish is a biopic based on the life of Dokka Seethamma, the legendary 19th-century philanthropist from Andhra Pradesh known for her immense generosity and Annadanam (feeding the poor).

The Role: In this period drama, Murali Mohan plays a pivotal role (reportedly that of Dokka Joganna), marking a significant character performance in his later career.

A Lifetime of Achievement
Murali Mohan’s recognition comes after a journey spanning over 50 years and 350+ films. From a romantic hero in the 1970s to a versatile character actor and a successful producer under the Jayabheri Arts banner, he has remained a pillar of the industry. His transition into public service as a Member of Parliament further cemented his status as a key figure in the Telugu states.

Speaking on the award, the 85-year-old actor expressed that while the recognition might have come late, it has come at the right time, making the honor even more meaningful.
