HD Kumaraswamy, the Union Minister of Steel, today ruled out the privatization of the Vizag Steel Plant. He made his stance clear after inspecting the plant in Vizag on Thursday.
“I personally visited and inspected the Vizag Steel (Rashtriya Ispat Nigam-RINL) factory in Visakhapatnam, which is under the Steel Ministry of India. During this visit, I toured various sections of the factory, gathered information, and inspected the production processes alongside senior officials. Following the inspection, I engaged in a conversation with the workers,” he tweeted after promising that a revival plan is underway.
On Wednesday, Nara Lokesh of the TDP made it clear that there is no truth in a report published by the Deccan Chronicle that the Andhra Pradesh government had done a U-turn on the privatization issue. The TDP has since described the report as “pure paid fiction”. “No stone will be unturned by the NDA Govt to ensure VSP regains its former glory. We have promised and we will deliver. I request people of AP not to believe the fake news created by the Blue Media who wish to see our State destroyed,” Lokesh added.
The Union Minister’s firm statement today goes to show that the Centre and the state government are on the same page on the issue.
