Tollywood Film Shoots Canceled in Jammu and Kashmir, Jammu and Kashmir, April 22, 2025

The beautiful valley of Jammu and Kashmir, often chosen for its breathtaking scenery, witnessed a heartbreaking tragedy. A deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam shocked the entire nation and forced Tollywood filmmakers to cancel upcoming shoots in the region.

Tollywood Calls Off All Kashmir Schedules for the Next Two Months

After the brutal terror strike on April 22, 2025, in the Baisaran meadow near Pahalgam, several Tollywood film crews pulled out of their scheduled shoots in Jammu and Kashmir. Both big-budget and low-budget productions that planned to capture the valley’s beauty canceled or postponed their schedules for the next two months due to safety concerns.

One film, starring a popular Tollywood star hero, also had Kashmir scenes on its shooting plan. But the team scrapped those plans immediately after the attack. Filmmakers are now scouting safer alternatives for future shoots.

Pahalgam Attack Leaves India in Mourning

On April 22, militants from The Resistance Front (TRF) opened fire on a group of tourists in Pahalgam, killing at least 28 people and injuring over 20 others. This horrific incident sparked fear, sorrow, and nationwide outrage.

Celebrities from the film industry, including Chiranjeevi, Nani, and Allu Arjun, voiced their grief and anger. Chiranjeevi, posting on X (formerly Twitter), called the attack “horrifying and heartbreaking” and offered prayers to the families of the victims.

Kashmir’s Scenic Charm vs. Safety Concerns

Kashmir has attracted Indian filmmakers for decades with its snow-capped mountains, serene lakes, and lush valleys. While many have filmed romantic tales and powerful dramas in the region, its history of unrest often casts a shadow over its cinematic allure. The recent Pahalgam tragedy reminded filmmakers of the serious risks involved in shooting in volatile areas.

LIC Responds Swiftly to Victim’s Family

The Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) responded immediately to support the family of Somisetty Madhusudhan, one of the victims of the attack. He held a life insurance policy with LIC’s Kavali branch, and LIC officials processed and settled the claim within hours after they verified the documents.

The authorities airlifted Madhusudhan’s body from Kashmir and routed it through Chennai to his hometown, Kavali in SPSR Nellore district, Andhra Pradesh. The family performed the final rites on April 24. LIC credited the claim money directly to the nominee’s bank account the same day.

By evening, LIC staff visited the family, expressed their condolences, and assured further support from the company.
