After the massive success of The Kerala Story in 2023, producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah is returning with its sequel, The Kerala Story 2. The makers recently unveiled the film’s trailer, and it has already become a major talking point on social media.
The trailer opens with a bold warning, suggesting that India could face the risk of turning into an Islamic state governed by Sharia law within the next 25 years. It then shifts focus to multiple stories set across different Indian states.
The first storyline unfolds in Rajasthan, where a 16-year-old girl is allegedly forced into religious conversion. Her family is shown approaching the police station to file a POCSO case. The narrative then moves to Madhya Pradesh, depicting a Hindu woman who is allegedly deceived in the name of love, married, and later pressured to convert her religion.
The third segment is set in Kerala, where a young woman in a live-in relationship is reportedly coerced into religious conversion. When she refuses, she is allegedly confined against her will. The trailer also portrays the violence the three women face after conversion and the emotional trauma endured by their families.
Sharing the trailer on social media, the makers stated, “This time, not silence but resistance. Our daughters have been targeted. Their future has been stolen. We will not remain silent anymore.”
Directed by Kamakhya Narayan Singh, the film stars Ulka Gupta, Aditi Bhatia, and Aishwarya Ojha in lead roles. The film is produced under the Sunshine Pictures banner by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, with Ashin A. Shah serving as co-producer.
The Kerala Story 2 is scheduled for theatrical release on February 27. While the trailer has generated significant curiosity among audiences, it has also triggered mixed reactions from netizens, sparking widespread debate even before the film hits screens.
