The trailer for ‘Thangalaan’, starring Tamil actor Vikram in the lead, was unveiled on the evening of July 10th. Producer KE Gnanavelraja has not confirmed the film’s release date, which is sort of disappointing.
Here are the five things you need to know about the film:
- ‘Thangalaan’ is directed by Pa.Ranjith, who is known for Rajinikanth’s ‘Kabali’ and ‘Kaala’. His post-Rajini movies, ‘Sarpatta Parambarai’ and ‘Natchathiram Nagargiradhu’ are critically acclaimed.
- The historical action drama film has Vikram as a fierce tribal leader who assists a British officer in tracing gold in their village. He goes against a rival tribe in the process.
- Malavika Mohanan and Parvathy Thiruvothu have pivotal parts in the movie. GV Prakash Kumar is the music director.
- A black panther appears to be a crucial character in itself. Is it a metaphor for something?
- The film is set in the Kolar Gold Fields and most of the action sequences seem to be raw and devoid of unnecessary VFX.
