Music director Thaman, who is currently busy promoting Akhanda 2, has finally addressed the long-standing criticism surrounding the loud sound mixing in his films. While the sequel has received mixed reviews compared to the blockbuster first part, complaints about excessively loud audio in certain theatres have once again put the spotlight on Thaman.
Over the years, Thaman has frequently been trolled for high sound levels and what many perceive as poor sound mixing in his movies. Reacting to these allegations, the composer clarified that the issue does not originate from his end.
In a recent interview, Thaman explained that many theatres have undergone renovations, upgrading their screens and projectors, but have neglected to replace or properly service their speaker systems. He emphasized that once he completes the sound mixing, it goes through multiple quality checks, including inspections by authorized Dolby professionals.
“I am not the final authority when it comes to sound mixing or decibel levels in theatres,” Thaman stated, adding that faulty or outdated speakers are the real reason behind the problem. He further pointed out that such issues are not widespread and occur only in specific theatres where the sound systems are not functioning properly.
By breaking his silence, Thaman made it clear that the responsibility lies with theatre maintenance rather than the music composition or mixing process itself.
