A tense clash between filmmaker-actor Tarun Bhascker and a senior journalist has once again stirred controversy on social media. What began as a light remark during the ‘Om Shanti Shanti Shantih’ teaser launch soon escalated into a heated argument, drawing widespread attention online. Notably, the duo had a similar verbal spat in the past, and this new incident has reignited that friction.
The Comment That Sparked the Clash
During the Q&A session at the event, the senior journalist stood up to ask a question. As he took the mic, Tarun Bhascker interrupted with a sarcastic, “Happy Christmas, sir… Advance Merry Christmas.”
The journalist immediately took offense, calling it “very bad behavior” and warning that he would walk out.
Despite the clear displeasure, Tarun continued smiling, which further intensified the journalist’s anger. He reminded Tarun of their previous confrontation, saying:
“Last time you said something similar. Everyone has been trolling me ever since. Can’t we also call you a flop director or a flop hero? Why can’t we say that?”
He emphasized that respect must be mutual and told Tarun directly that his behavior was “100% wrong.”
Tarun Bhascker’s Satirical Response
Instead of diffusing the tension, Tarun responded with another sarcastic comment:
“Sorry sir… I am accepting it. Should I fall at your feet now?”
This remark escalated the situation further. The journalist questioned why Tarun was bringing up old issues again, to which Tarun replied:
“I said that long ago. I didn’t say it now.”
Attempt to Patch Things Up
The journalist eventually prepared to leave the venue in anger. Realizing how heated things had become, Tarun walked up to him, offered a handshake, and tried to calm him down:
“Let’s message each other and talk privately… Why all this, sir?”
The video clip of this confrontation has since gone viral, splitting netizens into two groups some supporting the journalist’s reaction, others defending Tarun’s humorous approach.
Impact on the Film?
While the teaser launch event of ‘Om Shanti Shanti Shantih’ has gained massive attention for the wrong reasons, it remains to be seen whether this controversy will affect the film’s release on January 23.
Meanwhile, Tarun Bhascker is also gearing up for his next directorial venture, ‘Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi 2’, with updates on its shoot expected soon.
