Union Home Minister Amit Shah

The increasing misuse of artificial intelligence to create objectionable and manipulated videos of celebrities has become a major concern for the film industry. Taking a strong stand against this growing threat, Megastar Chiranjeevi has approached the Union Government for intervention. Chiranjeevi, accompanied by his son Ram Charan, met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Hyderabad and requested strict action against the misuse of AI and deepfake technology.

Recently, Chiranjeevi took to X to express his concern over the disturbing trend of morphed videos targeting film personalities. He highlighted how such content affects the dignity, reputation and personal rights of artists. Moving beyond his social media appeal, the Megastar decided to bring the issue directly to the attention of the Union Home Minister.

During the meeting, Chiranjeevi reportedly explained the potential dangers of AI-generated content and emphasized the importance of introducing stronger legal measures to protect celebrities from digital manipulation. He also urged the government to take stringent action against those responsible for creating and circulating objectionable videos.

Amit Shah responded positively to Chiranjeevi’s concerns and assured him that the government would look into the matter on priority. He indicated that stronger protective measures and strict penalties for the misuse of AI technology would be explored. The Home Minister also asked Chiranjeevi to submit a detailed written representation and assigned Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy to coordinate the issue.

Chiranjeevi expressed his gratitude to Amit Shah for considering his appeal and assuring action. This meeting has once again highlighted the growing concerns within the film fraternity over AI deepfakes and the urgent need for effective legal protection against the misuse of emerging technologies.
