Rajinikanth’s star power continues to make a strong impact in the Telugu market. Jailer 2 is already making headlines in trade circles, with the film’s Telugu States theatrical rights reportedly being closed for a massive ₹45 crore. Producer Naga Vamsi is said to have bagged the deal, reflecting the strong market value attached to the Superstar’s film.
The overseas business has added another major figure to the equation. Shloka Entertainments has reportedly acquired the overseas theatrical rights for territories including North America, the UK, Europe, Africa, Sri Lanka and Nepal for around ₹47.5 crore. Together, the reported Telugu States and overseas deals take the business value beyond ₹90 crore.
North America remains one of the key territories, with its rights alone reportedly valued at around ₹28 crore. The reported break-even target in the territory is said to be approximately $7 million, putting considerable pressure on the film to deliver strong theatrical numbers.
Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, Jailer 2 is scheduled for a October 15, 2026 theatrical release. The sequel brings back Rajinikanth as Muthuvel Pandian, with the franchise carrying considerable expectations following the success of the first part.
The release date also sets up an interesting Telugu market scenario. Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna’s Ranabaali is scheduled to arrive on October 16, just a day after Jailer 2. Backed by Mythri Movie Makers, the film is expected to add further competition during the festive release window.
Before both these films, Venkatesh and Trivikram’s Adarsha Kutumbam AK47 is scheduled to release on October 9 under Haarika & Hassine Creations. With multiple major films arriving within a short span, October 2026 is turning into a packed month for Tollywood, with trade circles closely watching the theatrical performance of these high-profile releases.
